The towering peaks of North Wales - Tryfan, Snowdon and the surrounding mountains are abundant with technical scrambling and mountaineering challenges whilst South Wales' beautiful lakes and rolling hills below provide a tranquil setting for more relaxing walks and rambles.

Adventure Days - Mountain/ Hill Walking 1 Day - £45pp
A fun day kayaking. Various locations. 
Courses are mostly run on weekends but are available mid week throughout the summer and school holidays.

Adventure Weekends - 2 Days - £120pp

Choose another of the one day activities below to create your own adventure weekend.

Abseiling, Climbing, Extreme Canyoning (supplement), George Walking, White Water Kayaking, Survival Skills (Bushcraft).

Optional extras - Bunkhouse or other accommodation from £20 per night.

Beginners Map Reading and Mountain Navigation
(this can include the National Navigation Award). 


This two day course is designed to understand the map and use a compass. Under expert guidance you will recognise and understand the features from map to ground. Spend some time learning the basics to improve your confidence and navigation abilities. You'll have plenty of time to put these into practice.


The course will provide a firm foundation for you to develop and consolidate your skills enabling you to navigate your own walks into the hills safely.  

As an optional extra we can ensure you reach sufficient skills level to attain a National Navigation Award.

  • Map symbols 

  • Grid system & Grid References 

  • North %u2013 True, Grid and Magnetic 

  • Map orientation 

  • Feature identification 

  • Using a compass                                                       

  • Estimating distance 

  • Estimating time required 

  • Understanding contours 

  • What to do when lost 

  • Planning a safe walk/route 

  • Safety in the mountain environment

Develop your navigation skills and improve your confidence to walk the land safely. 

This is a non-residential course but we can advise on accommodation or campsites.
